2017 Spring Tours

The new year has begun and spring will be right around the corner. Beginning in April, the Pine Hill Preserve will offer three guided plant tours and a bird tour in different areas of the Preserve. The tours are free and open to the public. There is a limit of 25 participants per plant tour and 20 participants for the bird tour. Led by volunteer naturalists, each plant tour will focus primarily on the plants growing within the chaparral and oak woodland ecosystems of the Public Conduct on Preserve Land but will also include information about wildlife and geology. All participants are encouraged to read information regarding Public Conduct on Preserve Land prior to visiting the Preserve.

With the exception of the bird tour, the following tours will begin at begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude by 1:00 p.m. The bird tour will begin at 7:00 a.m. and concludes by noon.
  • Sunday, April 16--Kanaka Valley/Salmon Falls Unit (BIRD TOUR)-guided by Chris Conard
  • Saturday, May 6, 2017--Cameron Park Unit
  • Saturday, May 13, 2017--Pine Hill Unit
  • Saturday, May 27, 2017--Kanaka Valley/Salmon Falls Unit

    Tour locations are indicated with the dates above. Field trip participants will meet at designated areas and carpool to the site; Pine Hill Preserve will notify participants via email one week in advance regarding the meeting location.
    Sturdy shoes, a hat, water, a lunch or snacks, sunscreen, and insect repellant.
